Founder of "Catholics for Kerry" Arrested for Running a Prostitution Ring

At least two dozen comments are on the tip of my tongue right now. Eric McFadden not only launched a crusade to deceive Catholics in 2004 that it was their moral obligation to vote for John Kerry, he did the same in 2008 first on behalf of Hillary Clinton and then on behalf of Barack Obama, and then took it a step further by vigorously assailing those who dared to correctly condemn the pro-abortion position as antithetical to Catholic belief and practice. I've long believed that the actions of Planned Parenthood - particularly its public campaign of encouraging young men and women to have sex at younger and younger ages while deceiving them into thinking they could easily prevent pregnancy, thus creating more unborn children for them to abort in order to generate more revenues - were a particularly vile form of sex trafficking. It should surprise absolutely no one that a staunch defender of Planned Parenthood's agenda would follow their lead and seek to profit personally from the sexual exploitation of women (including a minor) as well.

The story can be found here. A nod to The Curt Jester for providing the link that first brought this to my attention.

More allegations of misconduct against McFadden can be found here. WARNING: the above link contains information - and provides links to still more information - that is not for the overly sensitive or faint of heart!!!.

I confess that I often struggle in recognizing the humanity in men such as Eric McFadden. Yet we are called to bless our enemies, and not to curse them. I pray for the conversion of his soul, and the grace to allow those he has led into scandal to not only recognize that scandal for what it is, but also to find it in their hearts to forgive him for having led them into it.

Nevertheless, let this serve as a painful reminder of the fact that adamant support for abortion inevitably causes moral corruption in other areas of a person's life. Or rather, that support for abortion is often a sign of such moral corruption having already taken root in that person's heart.

Keep the prayers coming. In a few short days, the pro-life movement will enter into its own version of a dark night of the soul. Let us persevere and never lose sight of what lies beyond the dark night. God bless!

Fr. Richard John Neuhaus, 1936-2009

It happened earlier today, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

I could never do this incredible priest justice in a lifetime of writing, much less a single blog post. From his regular commentary on EWTN (including the death of John Paul II and election of Benedict XVI), to his numerous books, and to his numerous contributions as the driving force behind First Things magazine, he will be sorely missed.

This article, fittingly enough, comes from the First Things online magazine.

Requiescat in pace, Father.
